Greetings All,
I hope this update finds each of you training hard for an upcoming contest. I have had many calls from novice and open competitors alike questioning whether or not they should compete in more than one contest or back-to-back contest? The answer is yes, stage time only benefits you from a pose and presentation perspective and also allows you see where you stand in comparison with other competitors. Look at some of the pros in our state. For instance, 2007 New York Champion Branch Warren is competing in three contest over a four week time period. Why? He is in shape and will ride the conditioning wave as long as he can. As an amateur you too should ride the “conditioning” wave.
We have many opportunities to take advantage of back-to-back contest. In July for instance we have the South Texas Classic (San Antonio), the Branch Warren Classic (Conroe) and the John Sherman Classic (Stafford – suburb of Houston). These contest are a great opportunity to test your conditioning over a period of time. Then you can evaluate the balance of the year as to which contest you should do. We still have the Central Texas Round-Up. Promoter Cecil Ballard has gone all out on this one. He has many guest posers and has gone the extra mile to make sure you the competitor are treated to a great contest. Also coming up is the Europa Super Show in Dallas. This show will be bigger and better than past shows and will be highly competitive. Afterward, we have many good contest for you to prepare for the grand Texas State Bodybuilding, Figure and Fitness Championships. This is a must enter for any Texas athlete with the opportunity of being named Mr. or Ms. Texas. Coupled with the fact that we will have Lee Labrada (co-promoter), Jay Cutler, Bob Chicerillo, Shawn Ray, Adela Garcia, Jamie Eason and a UFC fighter still to be named.
As you can see we have a lot of great contest coming soon. We look forward to seeing you on stage soon!
Until then, train hard and demonstrate sportsmanship always.
