September 25 Update

Greetings All,

I hope everyone is training hard for our final stretch of the 2006 season.
This coming weekend we have the always competitive Heart of Texas. Followed
by the Gateway Classic, the John Sherman Classic and finishing the year the
Lackland.

Please remember that we are conducting the 1st Annual Figure/Fitness
Symposium on October 29, 2006 at the Holiday Inn Astrodome @ Reliant Center
beginning at 10 am. To date, I have had vendors from the make-up industry,
tanning, training, suits, choreography and sport psychology fields reserve
booths. I only have about 4 booths space left, so if you are interested please
contact me at lee@npctexas.org. As you can tell the symposium is shaping up
nicely and well serve each of you figure and fitness competitors well in the
upcoming 2007 season.

I would like to congratulate each of you whom competed in the recent North
American Championships. Unfortunately due to other commitments I was unable
to attend, but I did speak with a few of our athletes via telephone wishing
them the best from the Lone Star State. If you place, please forward me an
email with your placing so that I can post it on our website for the world
to see.

This coming weekend we also have Texas' own Ronnie Coleman going for number
9, yes that is NINE Mr. O's. Good luck Ronnie. I also want to wish Branch,
Johnny, Adela, Betty and other Texas pro's bidding for an Olympia
Championship the best of luck. We support you all!

If you have any comments or suggestions to improve NPC Texas, please feel
free to email me at lee@npctexas.org. Your feedback is important to all of
us.

Unit next time, train hard and demonstrate sportsmanship always,

September 11 Update

Greetings,

I hope this update finds each of you doing well and training hard. I want to wish those athletes competing in the upcoming North American Championship the best of luck. The entire state is behind you 100%!

This update is going to hit on a few different topics, mostly I will speak towards questions I get on a regular basis.

I AM TWO WEEKS AWAY FROM COMPETITION AND I NEED TO PURCHASE MY NPC CARD WHAT DO I DO? Purchase the card from NPC Texas staff at weigh-in. If you have sent the money order or check in to NPC, you will need to provide proof that you have purchased a card.

I LOST MY NPC CARD ? As long as the card you lost is the one from the competition year your name remains on my master list and you do not need to physically present the card or place the registration number on the entry. However, if the card is not current your name will not appear on the list and you must purchase a new one at weigh-in.

HOW LONG IS MY NPC CARD GOOD FOR? The card is good only for the competition year it is purchase irregardless of the month in which you purchase it. Example if you purchased you card in May of 2006 it will expire on December 31, 2006.

WHERE DO I GET AN ENTRY FORM? Go to the contest section of our website, locate the contest, there may be a link to the contest site where you can download an entry form or you will find the promoters contact information whereby you can have an entry form sent to you.

I AM A NOVICE COMPETITOR CAN I COMPETE IN BOTH OPEN AND NOVICE IN THE SAME CONTEST? No, you must choose one or the other.

WHAT TIME WILL MY WEIGHT CLASS BE JUDGED? I, nor the promoter can give you a set time for your specific class. I can tell you we do our best to start the contest on time.

I SUBMITTED MY NUMBER FOR A CRITIQUE, BUT FOR WHATEVER REASON COULD NOT STAY TO SPEAK WITH A JUDGE, CAN YOU SEND ME A CRITIQUE? No, judges keep critiques for the contest date only. Afterwards they return to their real jobs. If you want to improve, you will find away to stay around like countless other do.

WHEN WILL THE CONTEST PLACING BE POSTED? We typically have them posted by the Tuesday following the contest.

WHY DID MY PLACING CHANGE FROM THE MORNING TO THE NIGHT? There may be a few reasons, but is most likely a change in your physique or in the physique of another competitor. Remember we are judging at night, so no placing is final until the trophies are presented.

I hope these Q&A’s help you in the future.

The Heart of Texas is quickly approaching and from what I understand Prince Harrison has a spectacular weekend of events planned, the contest will begin with pre-judging of figure and fitness on Friday September 29, 2006. The Gateway Classic is to follow Bernadette Galvan, IFBB Pro and her significant other Anthony Delagarza have put together a day to remember along the Rio Grande Border. Those of you who have not yet made your way to Laredo should do everything possible to catch this contest and enjoy some border flavor. Coming at the end of October we have the John Sherman Classic, which is always a BIG contest and appears to be shaping up to be BIGGER this year with the contest being moved to the new Reliant Center to accommodate the large number of competitors and fans. Don’t forget the Figure/Fitness Symposium to follow on Sunday morning after the contest. Then will finish the 2006 contest season of with the Lackland. For those of you who don’t know the Lackland is held annually as a way of supporting our troops sports and recreation center at the base, so please support this contest as they support our country daily!

I look forward to seeing each of you soon. Until next time...

Train hard and demonstrate sportsmanship always,

September 6 Update

Greetings,

We have been going so hard of late that this weekend was boring with no competition. I missed seeing everyone, but we all need a break ever now and again. With no contest in Texas the next few weeks we will begin working on the 2007 schedule and poster so that you may have ample time begin preparing for next years season. I encourage each of you to invite a friend or work-out partner to give NPC Texas a try. As you have seen we have made many positive improvements building on the legacy of Texas body building. I hope you as competitors, family members of competitors and fans of the sport have enjoyed these changes. Please feel free to email me with you ideas which may continue to improve our competitions.

The Heart of Texas, The Gateway Classic and John Sherman are quickly approaching. I hope many of you are in training and training hard as many of our competitors have done this year. We have seen some really great physiques and some with great potential this year and I know there are hundreds more yet to be seen. For those of you who are returning to competition in Texas...Welcome home!

To assist our figure / fitness competitors we are holding a “symposium” on Sunday morning October 29, 2006 at the contest hotel of the John Sherman Classic. The cost is $25/person. We are already receiving request for table space from excellent trainers, conditioning coaches, nutrionist, posing coacher, tanning groups, jewelry manufactures, seamstress, and chorographers. We will have all these resources in one room, plus we will have NPC Texas Judges available to provide you a one-on-one critique of your photographs to help you improve for the coming season. But most importantly we are going to cover in great detail the judging criteria by which you are judged on stage. This is a great opportunity not only for competitors but for those who are contemplating competition or for the avid fan who wonders how we go about placing contestants. For those interested in having a table or just have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at lee@npctexas.org.
