Teen And Masters Nationals Update

NPC Members and Fans,

The 2006 Teen and Masters Nationals were just held in Pittsburgh, PA. Our state was well represented with more than 30 competitors from the Lone Star State. Many of which I have had the opportunity to meet and others I wish I could have met. As a judge I did have the opportunity to see each and every competitor and I must say that we had a very impressive line up of physiques to judge.

I am aware of the following placements (final results not posted at the time of this address):

Teen Fitness:

10-12
LeeAnn Thompson (9 years old) - National Champion
Daryl Stein (11) - 4th Place
Alex Stein (12) - 3rd Place

15-16
Whitney Franklin (15) - National Champion

Women’s BB Over 35:

Pam Franklin – 3rd

Men’s BB Over 40:

Gus Carter – 3rd
Michael Hanlon – 4th

Figure Over 45:

Catherine Zidell – National Champion

Figure Over 35:

Kathleen Zamora – 6th

After the final results are posted I will check to see who else from Texas placed and update this message I apologize to anyone I may have failed to mention in this posting.

Again, the Lone Star State was very well represented and brought home by comparison a lot of hardware. Great job to all who competed, you are all champions!

I want to meet as many of you as possible, so please do not hesitate to email me or come up to me at any show. My job is to make this sport fun and fare for all. My next stop will be the USA’s. I look forward to seeing many of Texas’ finest bodybuilders and figure competitors on stage fighting for that pro card. Good luck to all!

Train hard and demonstrate sportsmanship always,

Lee

2006 NPC Texas State Championship Recap

Greetings,

Wow, the Texas State Championship has come and gone. Thanks to each of you who participated or came out to cheer on our great array of competitors. Every contestant trained hard and the efforts showed on and off-stage. Each class had quality competition, which really brought the live judging into play as competitors had to stay on the game throughout the contest. I salute each of you.

We estimated more than 850 people attended the gala event. Each guest viewed many great amateur fitness and posing routines. They were also treated to a great performances by IFBB Pro’s Adela Garcia and Phil Heath. These two professionals put 100% into their routines and were reminded by our wonderful MC Lonnie Teeper that we were in the presence of a Ms. Fitness Olympia and Arnold Classic Champion in Adela. And that Phil is the only male athlete in NPC history to rise through the ranks not only undefeated but without a single vote less than 1st place and even more impressive a man to enter the pro ranks and win his first to contest.

In addition to these two great pro’s routines we had IFBB Pro’s Valerie Waugaman and Jennifer Becerra presenting trophies to the majority of our winners. Our men’s overall champion was treated to a special trophy presentation by body building legend Shawn Ray. This night created countless memories to be shared for a life time.

As the new state chair, I want to thank each of you from the bottom of my heart for your support. Many of you took time out of you schedule to meet me and share words of encouragement and support. I love this sport and each of you for what you bring individually to NPC Texas. My only regret is that I did not get to meet each of you personally. But, I promise to be at as many contest as possible and to meet each of you personally. My goal it to make sure you the athlete and fan are provided with the best experience this sport has to offer. With open communication and shared ideas we can accomplish this goal.

I look forward to seeing each of you soon!

Train hard and demonstrate sportsmanship always,

Lee

Texas State Championship Update

The new venue (Stafford Center) will prove to be a great new home for our contest. The competitor’s dressing area is incredible, just like a movie set. And, the seating provides great views from every angle. Seats are going fast, but good seats are still available. I suggest contacting Great Earth Vitamin at 713.975.7094 to purchase advance tickets to avoid long lines the day of the contest. The ticket booth is outdoors and it is sure to be hot on the 15th of July. Tickets for Shawn Ray’s Seminar will be sold during the morning at beginning at 3:30 on the 15th as well.

Remember we have Adela Garcia and Phil Heath guest posing, Valerie Waugaman and Shawn Ray will putting on seminars throughout the day and of course you will see many other pro’s walking and working the venue.

See you all very soon!
