An Open Letter to Competitors

An open letter from new NPC Texas Chairperson Lee Thompson -

Dear Competitors,

It is with great excitement that we usher in a new year in the Texas NPC. This year also brings change. I have the honor of being appointed you to serve you as the Chairman of the Texas NPC. Like those who have come before me, I welcome the challenge of continuing this legacy of excellence.

The Texas NPC has groomed and developed some of the greatest body builders of all-time and on the stage today. Our state organization is flourishing and continues to grow in each and every division. Our athletes continue to improve their physiques and are becoming more and more competitive on the national level. Our organization is also fortunate to have many fine judges critiquing our competitor’s physiques. These judges lend their expertise, experience and time to develop competitors and to increase participation throughout our fine state.

Under my tenure, the state administration will have a strong focus on serving our athletes in reaching their individual goals by creating an environment of open and free communication, honest yet positive feedback, and a competitive environment which breeds good sportsmanship from weigh-in to the final award presentation.

We will also be introducing “live” night time judging. This means competitors must stay sharp and continue to improve throughout the day into the evening. The morning symmetry and mandatory posing rounds will count for two-thirds of the score. The evening mandatory posing and posing routine rounds will account for one-third of the final score. Scores will be tallied and award presented based on both rounds. For shows with 60 or less competitors all competitors will participate in the evening “live” judging round. For shows with more than 60 competitors the top 5 athletes with the highest scores from the morning round will participate in the “live” judging round. The addition of “live” judging will add an element of the unknown and provide an additional element of excitement for competitors and spectators alike.

We will continue to identify opportunities of positive change in order to provide you the competitor a better atmosphere in which to illustrate your efforts. We will also work with our promoters to continually improve the quality and number of contest held in this state.

I thank each of you for you continued support of the Texas NPC. If I may be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at lee@tltinc.org. Again, I look forward to serving you for many years to come.

Train Hard and Demonstrate Sportsmanship Always,

Lee Thompson
Chairperson
