Europa Update
Incredible, absolutely incredible is the only word I can use to describe the past weekends event, the 13th annual Europa Super Show! Ed and Betty Pariso work hard for an entire year to put on the most incredible contest and expo I have attended this year, bar none. The event garnered 100 IFBB pro athletes and more than 130 NPC athletes and countless vendors.
As for the NPC contestants all were well prepared to compete. Figure provided the most contestants and some of the toughest competition as these ladies came to battler for a chance to move on to a national contest. It appeared that our judging critique message has been getting out as the ladies new pretty much exactly what we were looking for. I was excited to see 5 competitors in the fitness division, each of the ladies put on very delightful routines. They also dispelled the myth that gymnastics skills were not necessary to place high. Barbie Guerra a long time NPC Fitness competitor challenged those in attendance to take a shot a competing in a fitness competition in the near future. I too extend this challenge to each of you as it provides an alternative to figure and bodybuilding and is a route to an IFBB pro card. Bodybuilding was not to be outdone by figure and fitness. With Betty’s name in the title of the contest we had a great line-up of female competitors in three different weight classes. We also witnessed the return of NPC competitor Jodie Miller to bodybuilding. The men classes were also well stacked with well developed and conditioned physiques. The battle for the overall was extremely close between our heavy and super heavy weight competitors, but in the end the heavy weight took the night.
Our next contest is the Heart of Texas. You can bet Prince Harrison will put on a great contest, so please go out and support him and the NPC competitors on stage. Following the Heart we have the Gateway Classic in Laredo which is shaping up to be a great show. The John Sherman Classic will follow and is sure to be a big contest again as John has moved the contest the the Reliant Center. Don’t forget we will be hosting a figure/fitness symposium the morning after John’s contest at the contest hotel were you can find the resources you need to compete. Our final contest of the year will be the Lackland, where BIG RON COLEMAN will be guest posing.
I look forward to seeing each of you at a contest soon!
Train hard and demonstrate sportsmanship always,
