2006 NPC Texas State Championship Recap
Greetings,
Wow, the Texas State Championship has come and gone. Thanks to each of you who participated or came out to cheer on our great array of competitors. Every contestant trained hard and the efforts showed on and off-stage. Each class had quality competition, which really brought the live judging into play as competitors had to stay on the game throughout the contest. I salute each of you.
We estimated more than 850 people attended the gala event. Each guest viewed many great amateur fitness and posing routines. They were also treated to a great performances by IFBB Pro’s Adela Garcia and Phil Heath. These two professionals put 100% into their routines and were reminded by our wonderful MC Lonnie Teeper that we were in the presence of a Ms. Fitness Olympia and Arnold Classic Champion in Adela. And that Phil is the only male athlete in NPC history to rise through the ranks not only undefeated but without a single vote less than 1st place and even more impressive a man to enter the pro ranks and win his first to contest.
In addition to these two great pro’s routines we had IFBB Pro’s Valerie Waugaman and Jennifer Becerra presenting trophies to the majority of our winners. Our men’s overall champion was treated to a special trophy presentation by body building legend Shawn Ray. This night created countless memories to be shared for a life time.
As the new state chair, I want to thank each of you from the bottom of my heart for your support. Many of you took time out of you schedule to meet me and share words of encouragement and support. I love this sport and each of you for what you bring individually to NPC Texas. My only regret is that I did not get to meet each of you personally. But, I promise to be at as many contest as possible and to meet each of you personally. My goal it to make sure you the athlete and fan are provided with the best experience this sport has to offer. With open communication and shared ideas we can accomplish this goal.
I look forward to seeing each of you soon!
Train hard and demonstrate sportsmanship always,
Lee
